At The Bus Project

At The Bus offers a school-based programme of art as therapy to support the education, health and wellbeing of children and young people in Oxford and London. Sessions take place during the school day on their double-decker bus located on school grounds or in a specially-designed studio space. Students work in small groups, led by experienced facilitators trained in The Beattie Method - a creative, therapeutic intervention that supports mental wellbeing, alleviates anxiety, develops resilience and helps young people build their self-esteem, self-confidence and independence.

One Headteacher involved in the project said:

Having had extensive experience of the powerful work that At the Bus does in schools, I know that their contribution to our community will be life-changing for our students. The therapeutic significance of art and creation will contribute enormously to the well-being and enrichment for our children. The experience that At the Bus provides works in so many ways - the empowerment given by the act of artistic creation, the therapeutic guidance of the facilitators, as well as the pride instilled by having created something of merit and exhibition - all contribute to an enriching and empowering experience that we want all of our children to have. To have this built into our school is a compelling acknowledgement of what art can bring to students' lives in school and, in turn, in their lives beyond.
